Re: Fake Orders of Glory

Patina is there. The dirt is gone. I thought this is forum. Am I not aloud to ask questions? As for the number, if the number is original, than this is 2nd class variation 3.

Nobody says you can't ask questions. People even tried to answer yours as good as they can. I can't imagine why you think differently...

Re: Fake Orders of Glory

Hello! Please have a look to this presumed Glory 2nd class.
I confess having quite some difficulties to distinguish a 2nd class from a doctored 3rd, but this one looks a fake to me.

thank you
ciao
sergio

I have to apologize for the photoshopping I did on the pictures. It was the only solution to achieve a compression below 100k with still a reasonable quality and size.

Re: Fake Orders of Glory

Hi all,

Would love your thoughts on this Order of Glory. Im thinking its a 3rd class that someone has attempted to pass off as a 2nd class at some stage by a bit of alteration.

Any feedback would be great.

Re: Fake Orders of Glory

Probably right. Is the body "thick" or "thin"?

Re: Fake Orders of Glory

It appears as though a solvent used in the "gold" refinishing has leeched onto the surrounding silver creating that darkened circle of tarnish/discoloration evident around the center. I personally do not like it, and think your assessment accurate.

Sadly picture is a little bit blurry.

I think 2nd class in this serial number range is thick.
All Glory´s 2nd class after 24.000 have double window border.

Is there any space between the tower base and the ribbon?

Don´t like the berry´s on the left side.

best regards
Andreas

Re: Fake Orders of Glory

Thanks for the feedback guys.:thumbsup

The order is thicker than my Glory 3rd class and has no gap between the tower & the ribbon.

Re: Fake Orders of Glory

With so little difference between 3rd and 2nd Class I would advise sourcing a 2nd only from a trusted source.

If you see a 2nd online and think "oh cheap, I'll give it a punt" it will usually mean you are getting a tampered with 3rd or a complete fake.

Don't get me wrong, there are bargains out there, but not with the popular items on such visual display.

If you see a full cavalier set on the auction site for $10, $100, $1000, $10,000 many others have..... and know it is not worth the cash!
