The construction looks rather cheap, especiallly the pin on the back of the suspension.

Also, do you have any statistics on the number of annual awards?

I don't know for sure, but I asked Alexei (Nota Bene) and he THINK it's OK, BUT, he saw this for the first time from the picture so we must be cautios about it.

Well,

I actually bought this medal and it arrived from Poland today. I'm told the translation of the writing on the back reads 'Gramota of the Presidium of the Supreme Rada (Soviet) of the Ukrainian RSR' and that each republic was able to issue it's own state prize medals. I've never seen any examples of prize medals awarded by any of the republics, so this is a great find. I only wish I could find some other examples of prize medals awarded by the other republics though.

The medal is about the same size as the Russian, gold, state prize medal. It's quite heavy for it's size, but I've no idea what it's made from. However, it's quite interesting to look at and I'm very glad to add it to my collection.

Hi everyone,

I have one of these things, it's the one on the left.

The back of it says "Pochesna Gramota" rather than just "Gramota", unfortunately I can't read Ukrainian so I don't know what it means. Mine has the pinback as well.

I got it off ebay about a month or two ago.

I don't have a digital camera or scanner, so no pics. Sorry.

"Pochesna Gramota" means Honorary Diploma.

According to NB, this is a:

UKRAINIAN REPUBLIC SUPREME SOVIET MEDAL As given with Honored Certificate of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukraine, circa 1970s. Made of german silver.

Alexei has one on his site for sale if anyone wants it. Has anyone ever seen the award document presented with these?
