This commemorative Medal was instituted by a decree of Parliament on February 2nd, 1974.
It was awarded to those who between 1944 and 1974 had worked or served in state or other public institutions and were engaged in social and political activities.

It is a silver medal 30 mm in diameter.
The Obverse has a non crowned Polish eagle on a square with rounded corners, with the inscription XXX (above), 1944 (left), 1974 (right), PRL (below). On the reverse is the inscription WALKA / PRACA / SOCJALIZM (struggle, labour, socialism) in an oak wreath.
The ribbon is 30 mm and is red with three darker double stripes in the centre and brighter edges.
On the ribbon bar are the Roman numerals -XXX- in Silver braid.
