It looks like a massive plaque..like it's attached on the exterior of the Mausoleum. Wouldn't be unusual for it to be awarded to the museum. Order of Lenin #1 was awarded to Komsomolskaya Pravda.

I think it is mounted on the wall as an ornament only. Even in the Soviet days, I think it is very unlikely that a tomb will be awarded with the order of Lenin...

Re: the gratest order of Lenin on earth

This is sweet. Has anyone seen this at Lenins tomb?

Hi,

I don't remember having seen this inside... And it is certainly not outside.
I can check in the future...

Cheers.

I think I remember seeing inside Lenin's tomb but it has been a decade and I cant remember for sure. I remember the experience of going through it and it was an impressive and very well taken care of. Clete

Re: the gratest order of Lenin on earth

Guys,

I was there a few months ago, and I didn't see any OL inside the Mausoleum; on the other hand, there were lots of State Seal of the USSR.

Looking carefully at Tal's photo, I can say with 95% certainty that it was taken outside of a building, not inside. That being said, I don't recall an OL on the outside of the Mausoleum either.

There is no Order of Lenin outside of the building. I'm 99% sure of this.
And, BTW, I'm quite sure this pic is not from the outside of the mausoleum.
Has the pic been taken inside ? I don't think, but cannot be formal...

But, as proposed by Tal, maybe just a temporary ornament...

Re: the gratest order of Lenin on earth

Christophe,

That pic is not from the Mausoleum. If you look carefully, there are sign of sculptured leaves at the bottom of the order. There is no such ornament inside or outside the Mausoleum.
