North Korea fakes?
Perhaps I haven't looked close enough in the past, but it seems to me the market has flooded with North Korean awards. Orders and medals are available in large quantities at prices ranging from 5-15 USD. For example; Order of the 3 great revolutions can be purchased at 10 USD each, National flag II and III class, 8-12 USD each, Order of Soldiers Honor II class from 15 USD... etc etc etc ... but all sellers claim the awards are extremely rare and hard to get ... seems not. Any ideas? Most sellers are in China, but they also appear at low prices from Great Britain, USA and even Sweden!

North Korean Awards
Yes, there are also pieces on German ebay. The seller claimes them as rare.
One seller also offers a lot of soviet "copys". A bad sign ? regards Andreas |

I don't think they are fakes.which types are they?
In china ,the last types , pin back, National flag II and III class or Order of Soldiers Honor I or II class just cost 20-30 RMB,about 3-4 USD.they are large quantities ,not rare. If they are screw back types, the prices maybe too cheap. regards |

It is the later pinback types, however both with and without serial numbers. The screwbacks are indeed more expensive.

The pinback type have many viarations, some have numbers and others not.
I guess that some dealers maybe got these awards from china. this is the reason why they are so cheap. Regards |

One of the reasons they are so cheap is the fact that they are made of base metals. They are also made in large quantities.
Only the screwback versions from the 1950s were made of silver and minted (guess where?) in the Soviet mint. Those are in fact of very nice quality and, I think, quite collectible. But the later variations, being so cheap, can make a nice collection for a small amount of money.

NK bank notes ~ ebay(?)
Hi,
Im new here but I have bought items from tang si in the past:thumbsup I have been quite interested in propaganda art for quite a while now, I would love a original poster but they are too expensive for me L , so I was looking into north Korean bank notes (they look pretty cool) I was just wondering ~ are north Korean bank notes heavily faked on eBay(?) If anyone point me in the direction of some good bank notes that would be really cool. Cheers :thumbsup |

Re: NK bank notes ~ ebay(?)
Hello and welcome to the forum!
Well, we have been discussing extensively about the provenance of NK militaria available on ebay, but at least I have no clue on banknotes since this is not a numismatic forum.
