Art,

I believe the Order Book isn't legitimate.

It's just blanc book with un-official entries - no stamps or signatures observed.

I have seen exactly one of these in 2.5 years of looking at a LOT of collections and awards here in Georgia. It will not be for sale during the life of that collector. I have a standing order promising to buy any one that I can confirm (with his help) as legitimate. I don't ever expect that order to be fullfilled.

This past Easter Sunday I was chatting with a guy who is probably the leading collector of Azeri Soviet orders, medals and badges. For an Azeri Red Banner, he says he is willing to travel anywhere to examine and buy any legitimate Azeri Red Banner or RBL. Whoever has these two is, indeed, an advanced and fortunate collector.

William,

I have doubts regarding the usage of the booklet. I was told it was to keep a record of what awards were given to the recipient. I don't believe it was given with the awards as we have seen typical books issued. As you point out, there are no official stamps anywhere. None the less, I felt it was interesting for all to see it.

Chuck,

Nice aren't they? The collector who bought them (the two Georgian awards and one Transcaucasian award) paid $5000 USD for them in 1992. I've seen a few specimens of the Azerbaijan Red Banner of Labor before, but never the Georgian awards. It's a pleasure to get a nice closeup look of them. I asked the collector to send me big 300 DPI .tiff scans of the awards also. If anyone is interested in getting an even better look PM me and I'll email whichever you want.

William,

I would estimate he could get $5,000 USD each for them today with no problem. Maybe Eugene can comment here, as I believe he has roughly priced the Republican awards market.

This one posted in the top of this thread seems like very modern art, see what I mean?
Kind of a composition made with parts of other more familiar Orders, pieces of other Awards (for example that Red Star on the top looks quite a lot one of those Ushanka Badges!) but the all thing assembled together in a very artistic way!
Bravo!
