Red Banner documented group
I have been offered this documented Red Banner group. What do you think? Both orders are in the end of the list. It feels to good to be true.
What would be a OK price? http://personal.inet.fi/business/mac...annergroup.jpg |

Could be real. First 3 entries are done by one person and based on the ORDERS AND MEDALS OF THE USSR the red star was awarded in 1952. On the other hand, the red banner in this range should be from 1967, so that is a discrepancy. Red banner entry may be fake. Can you get the awards book number?

Tretov,
I think the group is most likely OK. Alexei |

hello Oleg, what are the numbers you are refering to? the Kutsenko's datalist is poor after 1955 and there're very few entries, the sampling is too poor to be really reliable. I got 421790 for july 5th, 1955, then 552483 for october 28th,1967...I personnaly have a "long-service group", bought in 1999, from Kiev, consisting of a red banner 522900 dated december 30, 1956.
The tretov's red banner stuck in the 421790-552483 range easily (;)), and for my database it appears very close to 502529, my red banner. The 30 december could have been one of those days when thousands of medals were awarded (I think of civilian examples when labor glory were given in huge numbers in 1975...). Of course my group can be fake! and a skilled faker could use of kutsenko's database! (red star is coherent, second good point: fits well in 299192 (30-Jan-51) and 3068951 (13-Jun-52))

PS: I forgot to mention that red star was probably given for 10 years of service and red banner for 15 years.

good morning,
i think it's a type 5 hard cover order booklet. And what i see first time, is that there are entries for two combat service medals. That's bit strange, because they should have written in separate medal booklet. Why are medals in this order booklet? This is something i see first time. Please let us know, what number order booklet u have and when it's printed, if you don't mind. Best regards, Lauri |

Lauri,
You can see that the first three entries are done in the same hand writting, so this booklet was obviously issued when the recipient got his Red Star. They have consolidated all his awards into one booklet listing them in the order they were received. It's not unusual. Alexei Quote:

Experts,
I bought this ORB group this weekend, after much deliberation. Given that the seller has a money-back guarantee, I figured I go for it. I'd like confirmation that it is ok though (assuming it is). Included in this group are a ORB, CSM, and a Leningrad Medal. The book accompanying the ORB & CSM lists 2 Bravery Medals that are missing. There is no document for the Leningrad medal. My thoughts are that the ORB looks good, as does the CSM. The Leningrad is either iffy, or really worn down. The only thing that concerns me is that the ORB could have been added later the the book. I'm hoping that that thought is merely a figment of my paranoid colletor's brain, and that the stuff is genuine. So experts, what do you think? ORB: |
