I don't know if it's just me but this 1988 Youth Invention award feels somewhat a forerunner to some of the post-MPR Medals with their large rectangular enamel suspensions. Does anyone else get a similar feeling?

While there isn't anywhere as clear a dividing line between "socialist" and "post-socialist" awards in Mongolia as we see elsewhere, there is a modernization in award designs over which various aesthetic judgments may contend.

The non-rejection of the past is one thing that attracts me to Mongolian awards (and why I care not at all about, for example, current Russian things, where all the orders have been crucified).
