Sadly, I would say nearly all the so called Gorshkov uniforms ( i sold 2 myself way back when i thought they were ok) are surplus parts uniforms. Probably not out right copies but non issued parts put together for showy display. I have seen over 25 of them for sale and they all have the same basic pattern. If you want a showy item its ok, but i doubt very much it was ever Gorshkovs.

Those ribbons are very similar to a copy of Brezhnev´s ones that were for sale on Ebay, I think. I would say that those of Gorshkov are fantasy. The "thing" in which the ribbon bars are put is likely the same.
Look at this and compare with the upper pic.

According to "Heroes of the USSR", Vershinin had (as of the time of his death in 1973):

-6 Orders of Lenin
-Order of October Revolution
-3 Orders of the Red Banner
-3 Orders of Suvorov 1st
-Order of Suvorov 2nd
-Patriotic War 1st

Which pretty much matches the ribbons on this fellow's uniform if they date from the 50's...

On more thing to check. This ribbon set shows a great deal of Polish experience - Kaliningrad and Warsaw medals and three Polish awards. Does that match Vershinin's history??

this time the star has been added...well, he has Caucasus and Koenigsberg medals...for Poland, this is the calssic polonia restituta and a rarer virtuti military (very high order), the third...grunwald badge?
for teh 4 lenins, for a m49 uniform it is possible: he had time enough to get the 2 more leinins for birthdays as it was so current...

This is a pic from the exihibition at the central naval museum, St Petersburg. I can't remember now but I think it was Gorshkovs... or am I wrong? Doug you have been there a couple of times. Is this real or just for "museum-use"?
