Re: Red Star,0565783,Senior Driver,29th Separate Guards Tank Breakthrough Regiment
Here is the location of Dmitrovsk-Orlovskij. It was liberated on 12th August 1943. Not too far north from the ongoing offensive at Kursk.
His Red Star may well be combat damaged as he continued to be in the firing line and was lightly and severely wounded before being discharged. The serial 565783 seems rather high for an August 1943 award. I was expecting it to be awarded around April 1944 - Is this a wartime catch up? Did the Breakthrough Regiment have to wait for a resupply of Red Stars?

He was probably in too much action by the sound of that citation :D to take a break till that awarding time in 44, wartime catch up seems likely to me. Awesome citation and really drives the point forward that this guy saw some heavy fighting :D congrats :) |

Re: Red Star,0565783,Senior Driver,29th Separate Guards Tank Breakthrough Regiment
Here is the location of both Glushets and Greater Lutava. Both were on the western bank of the Dnepr which is now an oxbow lake. Just over the river into Belarus from Ukraine.
Luck can only last so long with so many recorded hits on his vehicles.
