I don't believe it's an official State award, but I have no idea if it's a fantasy piece or an agency award.

I found this one and actually have one I got really cheap quite some time back. It isn't listed in any of the books I have on post-Soviet awards (or at least not with the RF flag suspension). I have the Soviet versions and there is no comparison (no mint mark I can find, mirror reverse stamped look to it). Since suddenly I see we now have an awarding document with this one, I was just wondering if anybody knew anything about it. (And yeah I know documents are about as easy to make as taking a picture.:rolleyes:)

They're back... I couldn't find a better place to post this for anybody even thinking about this one on the auction site.

As you can see, there is a new variation to this type of fake - a quill instead of a star in the suspension.

You would think with all the really high quality fakes of these (original variations) that no one would stoop this low.:rolleyes:

Here is another Medal "For Distinguished Service". The Ministry Of Defence instituted the continuation of the Medal "For Distinguished Service" as a ministerial award in the 92-94 period (exact information is on a "lost" hard drive). As for how many were awarded or if they were even produced at that time is not yet known. These frequently seen Medals may be the result of some contract which allows a manufacturer to produce it. As for whether or not these were ever intended to be awarded or not is another story but they were officially instituted by the Ministry Of Defence of the Russian Federation prior to any other award service or otherwise.

I'm still not convinced that one is anymore "authentic" than the previous posts. The detail of the faces is so poor that I seriously doubt they would have passed them for public wear. No visible mint marks either and though that doesn't preclude the validity of the medal, it certainly makes me doubt it - along with that mirror reverse.
