Is the Chechnya Medal official or unofficial because I have seen similar medals which are official.I saw this on E and thought it looked quite attractive unlike many others being sold ?

There are a couple of variants of these medals - some even going so far as to have a "serial number section" added on the reverse.
The detail and image are unappealing at best, and the sloppy enamel work is common with these medals. Unlike the mystery Bulgarian blue box, this one comes like so many do now, in a moulded plastic base and cover. I even have a blank "document" for one somewhere. Here is a blank document I have for this medal. As with any post-Soviet award document, I am suspicious of the authenticity of anything printed. It doesn't help the case with just the one word and eagle cover.:confused: Phillip
