Title "Hero Of The Mongolian People's Republic".

I just found out tonight, they had a Hero of the Mongolian People's Republic and a Hero of Labour of the Mongolian People's Republic, just like the HSU and HSL. Does anyone know how many of each were issued? Thanks.

Interestingly enough, there was also a Marshal star. Does anyone know who this was awarded to?

Kind Regards,
Shane Cook.

Hi Shane; according to Dietrich Herfurth, the hero of MNR has been awarded circa 100 times. So extremly rare.
The HSL has 400 times, you can find one in NYC, about 1300usd? same thing in Germany.
The hero of MNR before the war was mixed with the order of sukhe-bator, in the way there were no hero star and the title "order of sukhe-bator" didn't exist. The awardee of the title "hero of the MNR" received an extremly rare and beautifull star of gold and enamels with a depiction of Sukhe-bator identic to the post-war order except with a more revolutionnary pic of Sukhe Bator and inscriptions in the flag in traditionnal mongolian (before alphabet reform which imposed cyrillic). Later they did like the soviet: hero star + order of Sukhe with central character...

The marschal star is unfindable...only one, to their former dictator protected by Brejnev and moved by Tchernenko: Yumjagin Tsendenbal (the only marschal of MNR...about 30 years of dictatorship...correct isn't it?)

Title "Hero Of The Mongolian People's Republic".

Here is first emission of Hero of MPR - the one that looks like Sukhe Bator order.

This one was established in 1941 and total number of recepients is believed to be less than 10.

In 1945 Gold Star for Hero of MPR was established.

Number of recepients of Hero of Mongolia title:

Mongolian citizens - 50+,
USSR citizens - 17,
Total - over 100.

Info and pics are from Yuri Yashnev's site.

Best,
Vlad

Probably unawarded, nr 12 (on reverse) giving credence to thought of 10 being awarded. Excellent condition, circulating the rounds between dealers/collectors (I'm afraid to hear the price...)

What a beauty!

Re: Some "heroic" eye candy

Who wouldn't want to add that to their collection? Though I might leave it in the safe deposit box.

Nice. For comparison, mine. Awarded (to known recipient), worn, repaired (badly, though it looks better in person than in the scan), and with a very different reverse (serial number interntionally obscured, it is single-digit).

There are many things I can't say, sorry. I hate playing wink-wink, nudge-nudge games.

A single-digit serial takes the cake! That is a real find. I have not seen the "MD" mint mark before. That definitely needs to be included in your upcoming book.

Re: Some "heroic" eye candy

Depending on the new book out of UB, there may be no need, now (or any time soon), for another book.

I think his hero document may be in the recent book.

I am very very proud of this item, though, especially as it is part of a (very broken) group. I have seen one other item from this group, though it was offered at a CLINICALLY INSANE price.

I heard the price for the unawarded one posted in this thread... also clinically insane...

You have a beauty - and in my eyes the slight damage only gives it even more character. And you must be very eager for that new book to be delivered (like us all) :D
