I can see this being true to a limited extent. A trick with this hypothesis is that 99% of the time we have no idea where the awarding ceremony took place. I would assume only really high-ups were ferried to Moscow.

Two examples of same-day awardings from my collection:

Affirming above prediction:
- the award for the Moscow Olympics I recently picked up

Against above:
- an award for military and political training to an air force officer serving in the Ukraine

I'll start a separate thread soon and actually display the documents (and write more lucidly).

I forgot to mention an alphabetical bias may also be shown.

I like all this fresh Labour research. Some folks said it couldn't be done.

Alphabetical how?

What I find most amazing is how just a few successes excited people into suddenly finding tons of new information. :thumbsup

Re: Labour Glory III,414024

With the large groups awarded to employees of companies and factories, was it possible that the awards were shipped to their place of work to be awarded by a high ranking staff member, which could explain why some weren't dated when issued? As the person who filled in the booklet didn't know specifically when they would be awarded?

Maybe not true for all large groups but is it possible?

Re: Labour Glory III,414024

Alphabetical as in if 20,000 people in a single site were awarded an Order it is likely that Comrade A got his award days before Comrade Z.

Some booklets don't have spaces for both Ukaz and issue dates.

I have also seen many instants when there has been a mass awarding where a document has been completely filled in by one hand (or in type) except the day numerals which were added in a separate hand or colour.

I'm sure we're all have the "come into my office" scenario by alphabetic call with the "he's not here", "ok next!".

Glad that I could help you Tommy! :thumbsup
I've got so much help from all the experts on this forum in the last 10 years so I'm very happy when I have a chance to give back.

About the Ukaz date and the actual date when awards was actually handed out, I don't have much knowledge, but I can share details about one of my awards:

Medal for Distinguished Labor http://soviet-awards.com/forum/sovie...scow-80-a.html

Ukaz date: 16 July 1980
Award booklet filled on: 16 July 1980
Handing of the award: 1 August 1980 (I assume it was handed out at that date based on the invitation to awarding ceremony in Kremlin)
