Badge "10 Years Of The Main Department Of Internal Affairs".

The Belorussians have taken the art of badge design and construction from the Soviets and kepts marching onward with it (IMHO).

Below is what I see as the logical progression of USSR MVD badges to the relatively new (1996-2006) Belorus badge. However, my translation keeps coming back to the same thing - "promptly call on the services of the Minsk Police" which seems more like an advisory rather than something on a 10th anniversary badge for the Main Department of Internal Affairs (ГУВД).

Anyway, here they are, soviet, RF then Belorussian:

Re: Belorussian MVD, militsia -law enforcement badges

I just had to add that the Belorussians may have "marched onward" but they went back to a few basics like the wire holding that large badge together.

It looks like a fairly 'solid' badge Phillip. Is it a heavy piece?

Very nice piece, Phil. I guess I'm going to have to take a look at what Belarus has to offer.:D

Thanks guys. And yes, Brendan, my friend, it is rather heavier than most - I doubt anything in there is made from aluminum.

Greg, you might also want to take note that the screw nut has the words "Minsk" and "Sens" which confirms my thoery about the "Sens" factory being in Minsk and not produced for them outside of the country like say in the Ukraine or Baltic states. This is what you could call "homemade" - if it wasn't such a bad joke.
