Re: Original GPW Soviet NKVD cap?
It appears to be a period army cap. Why do you describe it as NKVD?

Re: Original GPW Soviet cap?
To me it looks from the "period." Whether it was manufactured prior to 9 May 1945 or the day after, no one will be able to determine.

Re: Original GPW Soviet cap?
This ensemble has been assessed as an artificially aged reproduction with a post-war cap star. I share this assessment.

Re: Original GPW Soviet cap?
It seems to be a theatrical prop that someone has taken a little bit too far.
The seller's username seems to say more than any images would. That being said, if you wanted to get a high quality reproduction tailored to order hat/cap 10 or so years ago, the costs could be surprising. Getting any sort of hat made to order isn't cheap (take it from someone who is a size 63) but as soon as the piece of headgear goes from a practical to collectable purpose, the value usually almost vanishes. For this example, I suppose the only practical application it has now would be to become part of a display or used as an educational prop. Caution should always be used in the purchase of headgear. The fake/reproduction market is so lucrative, it seems redundant to fake/reproduce awards by comparison.

Re: Original GPW Soviet cap?
Onyone would have a picture of genuine cloth to make a pedagogical comparison?
