screwplate types

Hello:
I would like to know if there is a type classification for the threaded screwplates that affix the Order to the uniform. Are there different metals used in the manufacturer of the plates. I have noticed that some screwplates have two small roundish raised portions of metal ( one on each side of threaded opening). What might you call these and is the function to aid in tightening the plate? I also notice that one screwplate may be of a different thickness to another screwplate. Can one tell by looking at a sample determine if it is from an earlier Order or a more recent piece.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards
Rick

I have attached some photos of various screwplates encountered and would like to know if they might be catagorized from oldest to most recent.
Would it also be possible to determine which are from WW2 and which are
post WW2.

Thank you to the forum members for your help.
Regards
Rick

I would generally agree with your order, but probably switch C and D. If C is "shiny" or appears to be like chrome plated, it's probably most certainly post-war later issue. I have several late s/n RS awarded in the 80's + with such a plate.

Screwplates

Sorry, but I don't remember if there is already a Thread, but I am interested to know the timing differences of various Screwplates, these two models can you tell me something?

I was looking for screwplate info yesterday and the above thread is about all I found on the web. There's some good pictures and info in the Red Book as well.
It might be nice if we started speculating on different types by award, date and possible manufacturer.

Re: Dating Screwplates

Do we assume that screwplates (when the threading was the same) were eternally "wedded" to a single award? Given the bags of orphaned screwplates I have seen in Ulaanbaatar, I am left wondering how separable they were.

Re: Dating Screwplates

The Soviet made screwplates for DPRK awards (which are different to those made for Soviet awards) can be picked up in China by the gross. Not a similar situation for DPRK and Czechoslovak made screwplates which are very seldom offered (and frequently missing from the original award).

Re: Dating Screwplates

These are some of the information from me caught in the network, but it seems to me to understand that they are specific for OGPW.
If someone better than me you would translate it into English.
