Jubilee Medal "50 Years Of Victory In The Great Patriotic War 1941-1945".

Hello all,

I recently received a 50 Year Anniversary Document + Medal issued in Transnistria, a perfect addition to my collection of 50 Year Anniversary medal documents! Quite a low serial number - BB 4867 - and I figure that this number is on the higher end of documents issued. Does anyone else have any examples that they can share?

Um, if the 50th anniversary of victory occurred in 1995, how is the document dated 1993?

I also saw that, but didn't think anything much of it. Upon closer inspection, it looks like possibly the person was writing a "5", but simply forgot to cross the top part. Any opinions regarding its authenticity?

Seems like a rather rushed "5" to me. In fact I used to write 5 like that when I was rushing numbers at the age of 4. It would look as though this is a legitimate piece. The PMR is just another former Soviet territory to add to the list of those awarding the CIS Jubilee Medal.

The printing quality doesn't bother me - as Europe's poorest country I've seen similar or worse. The facsimile signature and organizational stamp seem to be good too.

Here's mine for comparison... I'm inclined to agree that on kazanskiitatar's document the "3" is probably a "5" written in haste. Everything else looks good.

Would anyone know where the top end of the serial range of these documents would be?

Four years later I may be closer to an answer.....

Here is 002373 awarded to Mihail Isaakovich Fastovskij on 3rd May 1995. A Tiraspol native.

His wife Emilija Nikolaevich Fastovskaja was awarded the next day with 014056, indicating a lot more documents printed than previously thought, if not awarded.
