Pilotka Value?
I bought a great pre-1937 group photo of some young Soviet military pilots last weekend. The family "threw in" a couple of very nice pilotkas. They are both very heavy wool. One is dark grey-green and has a 1940 mark under the sweatband. The other is more of a brown and has no sweat band or markings at all. One has an old Red Star on the front, the other has no badge at all. What are authentic WW2 pilotkas worth these days? I haven't got a clue.

That looks like a 1970s - 80s pilotka. The inside has been bleached by the owner. The material seems to match the tropical style field uniform used during the early years of the Afgahnistan war. the cap badge was usually a red star and not the subdued green star.

Is this a Soviet-era pilotka or a current-issue Russian pilotka?
Also, can anyone tell me what the white writing says? Thanks as always. |
