Red Star lapel pin?
I am soliciting the thoughts of our membership as to what this might be. It measures about an inch across. I've been told this type of welded attachment pin was used on znacki from the 1950's thru the 1970's.

Re: Red Star lapel pin?
That H&S design looks strange; almost sure it´s not soviet. I´ve seen that kind of pin too in other soviet badges, so I assume it may have been made in the USSR but for a communit organization of another country.

Re: Red Star lapel pin?
I don't think that it is sovet, as Esteban pointed out. As to the pin attachment, this was a fairly standard type at the time; I would not link it to a specific country.

Re: Red Star lapel pin?
The attachment method is similar to Soviet 50s style while the pin itself I've not seen on anything Soviet. The safety pin looks more Western, to me, and possibly of the same era.
I like the overall look of it.

Re: Red Star lapel pin?
The pin and catch is exactly like one on an Azerbaijan badge I just got in - and the circular plate attaching it to the badge is also common (lots of Bulgarian/Hungarian badges have the same design). As for country of origin for this specific design (obverse), I agree with the non-Soviet (at least not in the all-union sphere).

Re: Red Star lapel pin?
If you type 'cap badge' he can hear your key strokes and will turn up quickly. :)
I'm starting to get a Yugoslavian vibe from this.

Re: Red Star lapel pin?
As the picture name suggests, could it possibly be German?
