Re: Submarine badge

Re: Submarine badge

So actually, Cuba has no submarines, and the badges are only worn by those who graduated a submarine course in the Soviet Union, like Perez?

Re: Submarine badge

Correcto, Betancourt and Menendez were graduated in URSS and usually wear the badge, they are the only 2 Officers ever seen.

About current submarine in Cuba, well, MGR have 4/6 North korean Sang-O called "Delfin" and some "Human Torpedoes", like italian pig (WWII).

From http://www.histarmar.com.ar/ArmadasE...os-unanota.htm

Coastal Submarines

Recently, there are news of North Korean submarines of the Sang-O class seen in Cuba, operated by the national navy. It is believed that there are 4 units, but it is not known whether they are the primitive or the most modern, 40 meters in length and 370 tons, armed with two 533 mm torpedo tubes with 53-65K Russian torpedoes, also capable of putting mines.

It is possible that these reports are part of a confusion caused by reports of the Cuban submarine called, it is believed, Dolphin. There is at least one photograph taken in the port of Havana. It seems to be the displacement of the Sang-O, and has the same weaponry. Its design is apparently different, and there is a suspicion that the initial model was North Korean (North Korea used Yugoslavian plans in its construction), with Iranian help, as it also resembles some designs of that country.

It is not known with certainty, but it is thought that there are four/six units of these coastal submarines.
