Auke,

The punches used are not the proper ones.

So, if Auke can't see signs of buffing (and he has a good eye), then the next guess is that it is even newer (non-numbered) and then someone punched their own serial number. This would not be a new occurrence, but it always is a drag when it happens.

Re: Fake Medals for Bravery

Hello. This is my most recent BM, with U-type suspension ring. I have some doubt about the email, which in my opinion is a recent replacement.
What do you think?

ciao

If it was replaced (and I doubt it), they did an excellent job of "aging" it - cracks and all.

Re: Fake Medals for Bravery

Wasn't sure where to post it, as it's the part of a documented group (unfortunately, the BM is the only numbered award that was present):
So, the medal itself is OK, but what about this number? The last digit has been altered rather crudely - from 5 to 6.
If it was done in the modern times, the explaination is simple - it was done to match the doc. But how likely it is that one puts his hand on a medal just one piece away from the one they need?
If it was done in the period, what reason would there be for that? Mint error?

What do You think?

I have seen many of errors with stamped BMs. These guys were only human and errors occured. Maybe too much pivo the night before or even before stamping it? Maybe he and Marusha had an arguement that am and he was distracted by the thought that he should have listened to his babooshka and married ou la la Olya?

The likelihood of someone re stamping a 5 to make it a 6 to match a doc is slim or none imho. Congrats on a nice award and booklet.:thumbsup

Re: Fake Medals for Bravery

I wonder if at least the medaillon is original in this T1 BM.
Thanks for your opinions.
