Re: North Korean militaria (uniforms)

I found it intersting to see how many of the generals (especially for the non-military portions of the celebration) wore ribbon bars rather than full medals. A kindness to the aging officers? Or signs of "reform" in the PDRK?

Is that a DPRK wrist watch?
The news coming out of Korea has certainly had the BBC showing a deep interest.
I just picked myself up a DPRK naval uniform the other day for under £20 delivered so I'll get some photos of that later. The rank is of Petty Officer 2nd Class.

Here's a picture I came across today. This Female Hero has a fully decorated robe. I don't think this is the full dress uniform somehow.

True, only some heroes are military. How carefully we try to forget this.

Nice. Thanks.

That's an impressive display that she wears:
An Order of Freedom and Independence, first class; two Orders of the National Flag, first class; multiple Orders of Labor; and the second version of the Order of Kim Il Sung. Note also the "Great Leader" flag pin which is required to be worn on the left breast, above the heart. Based on the awards and her age she was presumably a veteran, and most likely a partisan commander, in the Korean War.

As for the robe....That is the traditional garment of Korean women, which they are strongly encouraged to wear in the DPRK. It actually is not at all uncommon to see photos of women taking part in celebrations and events, wearing this garment, with full decorations displayed.

The awards on the woman's robe are actually:
Order Of Kim Il-Sung
Hero Of Labour
Order Of The National Flag 1st Class
Order Of The National Flag 1st Class
Order Of Labour
Order Of Labour
Order Of Labour
Order Of The National Flag 2nd Class
Order Of The Anniversary Of The Foundation Of The DPRK
Order Of The Anniversary Of The Foundation Of The DPRK
Order Of The Red Banner Of The Three Revolutions
Order Of The National Flag 3rd Class
Order Of The National Flag 3rd Class

This highly decorated female, honoured with the highest awards of the DPRK is the manager of a clothing manufacturing plant and continues even in her advanced years to train apprentices personally to guarantee high production.

Here is a picture of her at work.

Re: North Korean militaria (uniforms)

I was noticing during the recent news reports on DPRK that there were now quite a few military personnel with many "Military Parade" Commemorative medals on. With the amount of Parading recently there must be a lot of them about! Attached is a female troop all showing the medal.

There certainly is one if someone wants to "buy-it-now" "regret-it-later"! Probably 1000% it's actual value.

Here's a good clear view from the Republic Of Korea of a DPRK Border Guard who doesn't seem to have a full understanding of Binoculars. He is wearing a Badge Of The Red Banner Of 3 Revolutions 1st Class on his right chest.

Now that´s a way to defend the Motherland, watching closely the moves of the agressive American imperalist and South Chosun puppet faction armies.:laff
