Medal "For The Defence Of Stalingrad".

In the drawings we can see that Stalin was involved in the final stages of design - he erased himself from the medal (Sudden attack of modesty?) And changed other features as well.
Very interesting.
The captions have been made by Stalin himself.

Medal "For The Defence Of Stalingrad".

I recently aquired this interesting Medal for the Defense of Stalingrad. The recipient has completely covered the ribbon with tape. There's nothing like a tape covered medal. I kinda like it.

Mike,

I love those too, shows how much the recipient cared about it.

Medal Defense of Stalingrad medal certificate

Hi,

Can you please give me your opinion on this Defense of Stalingrad certificate?

The lower letters of the crest can be read, but the document seems too "new" and lacks the weathering I have seen on others. could it be a coloured copy?

Thanks and regards,

Gus

Re: Defense of Stalingrad medal certificate

It's up on the "e", with a ton of other hard to find documents. Including blank "defense of" docs. Some "blanks" with stamps, but nothing else filled in.

They all have the same look, interesting in itself.

All of which triggered my alarms. The doc seems to be genuine, but there is something to it that makes me feel uncomfortable.

That is why I asked you wise men on this site to give me your opinion.

On the other hand, the writing seems to have been made with a fountain pen, not a ballpoint pen, only used in large scale some time after 1948 (the date of the document). This seems to be consistent with a postwar document (most docs issued during the GPW that I have seen were written with red crayon).

Regarding the seals, I have no idea if they can be easily counterfeited or not, or if the soldier´s unit actually fought in the Stalingrad theatre of operations.

I don´t know if I will buy the item, but I hopefully will learn a lot from it.

Regards,

Gus
