MGB Patches.
Not necessarily awards, but Transnistrian related. The oval is supposedly the newer pattern.
MGB is a KGB successor organization - the "M" is for "Ministry" instead of the old "K" for "Committee". Last edited by CtahhR; 03-14-2013 at 06:21 PM. |

Re: MGB Patches
Wow! There are so few legitimate MGB items out there, it is always a pleasure and in this case a learning experience, to see anything from that brief period. And they are both in outstanding condition. Interesting variation on the style of the shield too compared with the all-union version. Also, there is no hammer and sickle to be seen. Very interesting. :thumbsup

Re: MGB Patches
I think there´s no H&S in this particular case because of the dark memories it carries. As Greg Collins previously stated, they still use the MSSR CoA and flag, in spite of being a democratic government. I think that, in this case, there are some symbols that create nostalgic or good time memories in some situations, and in other, the worst ones you can imagine.

Re: MGB Patches
Great patches, Paul! I have to say I like the older pattern more than the new. Now I have something else to look for...

Re: MGB Patches
I see, I was under the impression these were from the original MGB period, not that they went back to the previous name (I get it now that I've re-read the orginal post).:o Still, if you revert to a previous name and still use a Red Star which is still symolic of Communism (China), it would bring up just as many memories, either good, bad or both.
