Re: NKVD Street Building Projects
I always have doubts about these, but I especially doubt the authenticity of the second one. Serial number, enamel work and low level of craftsmanship make me think :nono
I'd have to have them in front of me and then I would still have doubts unless I knew the seller very, very well. Phillip

Re: NKVD Street Building Projects
I have to agree - I don't like the looks of either one. One looks assembled and both seem to have gone to great lengths to "age."

Re: NKVD Street Building Projects
I have found that many of the Ministerial awards (and there are MANY), specially those awarded to manual labourers or workers with desk jobs are usually in a "fresh" condition unless they fell into the hands of "Children" or "Invaders". Most Ministerial awards will have been worn very infrequently, if at all. If you are working in the field, on a construction site, behind a desk etc. you won't be wearing a chest full of Badges on a daily basis. Awards to armed forces will have been worn "on parade" or even "in combat" and had more chances to endure damage. I don't see a long serving and diligent lumberjack wearing a chest full of awards whilst felling trees for example.
There must have been some very decorated Soviet chests of drawers.
