Unknown early badge fake(?)
I got it togeather with other items to sell from Ukraine and I am wandering what it is? It seems to be some sort of early Soviet Navy artillery badge, but I don't recognize it. I believe this one is a fake, but of what?
Many thanks in advance! |

Re: Unknown early badge fake(?)
I think it is trying to be a fake of a "dembel" Badge. It looks to be constructed from a fake Red Star. No-one would ever consider doing this to a real Red Star (if they had been awarded it).
I would avoid this like the plague. NOT even worth thinking about metal value.

Don't sell it off unless someone just likes ugly useless stuff. Keep it in your WTF? drawer (I have such a drawer).:D

Re: Unknown early badge fake(?)
I would never have guessed it may be based on a fake ORS. Someone's got fantasy there in Ukraine.
If I am going to sell it, it will go as fake (or maybe better: fantasy). I would keep it, but I would have to pay for it, so I will either send it back or try to get rid of it. Thanks for the opinions, guys. |

Re: Unknown early badge fake(?)
I will post the pic tommorow, as I have lent my camera. What I can say now: The red star has the enamel very thin - more like in Yugoslav Partisan star than in the ORS. Also it doesn't seem to be made of silver. In addition, the cannons and anchor motif seems to had been mounted before the enamel had chance to fully soldify, as it has left traces in it and there is a red "smudge" of the enamel on the back of that device.

Re: Unknown early badge fake(?)
Al-Muell,
Thank you for the pictures. It looks like someone wanted to make a T1 ORS fake (Goznak), then realized that it would not be very successful and decided to use the spare part in a creative manner. Can you please confirm that the "enamel" is in fact epoxy? Marc |
