Gaurds Badge

Hello Esteban

I bought one just like it in a Military supplies (uniforms) store in Southern Russia back in 2001.

I beleive it is authentic, they sold for just a few dollars.

Well, guards badges are always sold for low prices (4 or 5 dollars for a soviet one here, 3000 pesos), but...this Russian one has surprised me a lot...

Greetings,
Esteban

Esteban,

It's a first post-Soviet Guards badge, and it is genuine. If you don't mind me asking where did you get this horrible scan?

Tal,

The one on the left is a current issue, the other one is already retired.

RF Guards badge?

Could I get an identification on this badge please? The seller is advertising it as a Russian Guards Badge.

I received today a RF Guards badge. I must say that I am disappointed with it. Although I picked it up for a tiny amount, that is not why I am disappointed, but more with the construction. It is made of aluminium and paint. If you can check the images you will see that at some places the paint runs off and the chord of the Russian flag has been painted over red and blue instead of gold coloured. Now either this is a fake, fantasy piece or simply how the Guards badges look today. If it is the later, then gone are the days of the beautiful brass made Guards badges. Opinions? Comments?

Danny,

That's the way this one is manufactured. Sometimes, when produced by different factories, the same badge may be struck differently.

Danny,

Looks like a genuine piece - cheaply made, cold enamel (paint).
