Gagarin space medal. Commemorates the visits to the Space City in the USSR, where all cosmonauts were trained.

I think it's amazing how the Soviets managed to combine the rocket and the Spassky Tower in a single design. LOL!

Almost the same medal - now on suspension.

Issued in 1984 Soviet gold medal decoration was awarded by the Russian Space Training Center for Cosmonauts and Astronauts in order to commemorate 50 years since the birth of Yuri Gagarin.

The medal is heavy gold plated / gilted and has a special ribbon with a bar with the digits 50 and a laurel leaf underneath.

Supposedly this medal has been presented to an extremely limited number of staff, astronauts and other high ranking officials.
