Order Streamers For Unit Banners.

First time ever - I saw this picture (the writing is not mine), with orders attached to a unit flag - not the usual wide ribbons but actual orders like Lenin, Red banner and Kutozov. Outstanding!!!

At auction in Germany:

"3 Ordens-Fahnenbänder: Rotbanner-Orden, Kutusow-Orden und Orden Roter Stern, jeweils die Originalbänder genäht mit anhängenden Quasten. Diese Fahnenbänder wurden an verschiedene Einheiten der Roten Armee als Auszeichnung nach dem II. Weltkrieg verliehen. Selten!"

I don't have any awards awarded to military units, but I do have an award and gold tassel awarded to a newspaper. The award was a flatback Order of the Badge of Honor (Znak pachyota). Both were mounted on a stiff piece of cardboard about 8.5 x 11 inches--it looked like something the editor in chief would hang in his office.

I don't have the award document. The order was awarded to a non-RSFSR newspaper--and I would prefer not to say which, though you can probably glean from what UR it was from based on my profile.

I've had several awards which were awarded to units. I didn't know it until I had the award researched.
