He has been serving in the staff of the 17th Air Army as the Operations Section’s senior officer on duty in charge of long-range flights since November 1942. In his duties comrade Tretyak showed himself an active officer, who is dedicated to the cause of the motherland. He personally supported over 1500 long-range sorties by both single aircraft and formations, without a single violation of orders or instructions occurring. Some info on the aircraft type he flew. In Russian: Скоростной бомбардировщик – Skorostnoi Bombardirovschik – "high speed bomber", also known as the Tupolev ANT40.
