Nationality: Mordvin 3. Social Origin: Worker 4. Party membership: none 5. Tenure in Red Army or Red Navy: since 1933 6. Participation in the Civil War: did not participate 7. Wounds of Contusions: two wounds, two contusions 8. Prior award recommendations, when and why: Recommended in 1943, battles for area of 8th Hydroelectric Power Station (8 GES) 9. Prior commendations and awards: Medal "For defense of Leningrad" 10. Service in White or other bourgeois armies, captivity: did not serve 11. Permanent address: Leningrad, Ulitza Stachek, 103/34 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Short, concrete description of personal combat feat or accomplishment: During the landing operation conducted by forces of Chudksaya River Fleet Brigade in the night of 15-16.08.44 in the area of Jõepera, commandant of landing base comrade Bazarnov demonstrated himself as a brave, persistent, skilled, and initiative-driven leader, which provided for a [successful] landing party. [Comrade Bazarnov] by personal example led his own personnel during the landing, overcame the water boundary, minefield, barbed wire, and despite stubborn resistance from the enemy first rushed into populated locality Jõepera with his fighters and with supporting fire from cutter boats knocked the enemy out of Jõepera. Capturing the locality of Jõepera [he] organized and equipped space for receiving cutters and rafts, armament and ammunition. Despite unrelenting shelling from enemy artillery, bombing and strafing raids from enemy aviation, comrade Bazarnov supervised and by personal example demonstrated and inspired personnel in receiving and unloading cutters and rafts, providing for [successful] landing of fighters, armament, and ammunition to the frontline. At the moment of arrival of wounded fighters, comrade Bazarnov organized and personally participated in the evacuation of wounded from battlefield and their transfer onto rafts to the rear. With own forces were evacuated near three hundred wounded fighters and officers. For successful supervision of the landing, providing to the success of the operation, for personal combat example, Lieutenant Bazarnov is deserving the government award order "Red Banner."
