Badge "30 Years Of Turkestan Military District".

Does anyone know what this Order is, or even if it is an order? It is of silver and blue enamel, a red enamel star, and a silver bust of Stalin that is a separate piece. It is 3 inches in height and has a serial number on the reverse.

I acquired it several years ago, but have never seen anything like it.

Any commenst or information would be appreciated.

The text "ТУРКЕСТАНСКИЙ ВОЕННЫЙ ОКРУГ" on the badge is equivalent to TURKESTAN MILITARY DISTRICT.

The "XXX" at the top is probably representing 30 so I guess this is a badge for the 30th Anniversary of the Turkestan Miltary District.

Others with greater knowledge will be able to confirm this.

I second the motion.

Assuming the district was formed in the early 20's, this would be from about 1952. Stalin died in '53.

A very appealing and early veteran znachok. Is it silver?

Yes, the XXX Turkmenistan Order/Badge is made of silver (the metal). The number engraved on the back is #082.

What is a "znachok"?

znachok is Russian for badge.
