Show your best item acquired in 2007

Since we are going into a New Year, I thought it would be interesting to show your favourite medal or your favourite Soviet collectible you have acquired this year.

As for me with the rising prices and our friend Alexei closing his shop, I haven’t bought that much this year compared with 2006. The other reason is that I’m also a “small collector” considering that I’m still a student with a limited budget.

Anyway, I am particularly happy that I got a Red Star awarded to an East German officer. I’m waiting for the research to confirm what I know on this Red Star.

Please, share your find of the year and I wish yo at the same time an Happy New Year!

ORS to a DDR soldier...?

What more do you know about it? Why do you think he got it? The number makes it probably a 1968 or later star, doesn't it? Also, will personnel/award records for a DDR soldier be kept in the same place as those for a Soviet soldier?

...Brian

A friend of mine in Berlin sold it to me and he got it from the family. However the wife threw all the documents with his name in the garbage. I'll reveal everything on the forum once I get the confirmation from the researcher.

Now show us what nice you all got in 2007, unless you all want to keep this as a secret.

M45 parade uniform of Kirill Meretzkov

Moth holes and all, which made it remotely affordable, and came with cap, breeches, boots (with spurs) and m43 style belt.
Now I got to fill the holes....

My gem of the year is the 1955 parade uniform of Marshal SSSR "Tjujkov".

For my part, nothing very exceptional compared to what others got, but it makes me very happy.

LENIN BUST - Made of bronze. Has the engraved signature of the sculptor (A. Rabin) on the side. There is also a mint mark in raised letters at the back 'MZKhL [Moscow Artistic Casting Works], Art Fund, RSFSR, 1958'. Dimensions: height is 20.5 cm, shoulders are 12 cm wide and pedestal is 7.5 x 7.5 cm.

A big thank you to Brian (Kirchgoens) for his exceptional help and kindness without who this bust would remain a dream for me. Thanks my friend!

Nice Bust!

And I mean that in a comrade-ly non-sexual sort of way.

Dzerzhinsky Painting

Hello members. This painting is not my favorite piece, but I had a picture of it, so here it is. I recieved it this week and I just had a new frame placed on it. If I have time to take a new picture with the new frame, I'll add it on to another post. Thanks
