New World,

I think I should mention that I don't like the serial number on this screwback order. I am almost certain that it was changed.

This is an order of the Red Banner---looks OK to me

This is a common order and not usually faked at this version as cost is about 30-40 US for the order

Fakes for the red banner order usually show up more in the screwback variation and the multiple issues to same individual

Most common screwback fake I have seen involes taking one like yours, cutting off the loop and affixing a screwback post and changing the serial #---value for screwback considerably more then suspension model

For the multiple issue red banners (red banner with a #2 or #3 or #4 etc in the order) is to eith make from scratch or take a #2 and knock out the #2 and replace it with a #4 or #3, etc, etc--then change the serial #

A #2 red banner worth about $170 USD a number #3 red banner worth between $300 and $400 USD in todays market

As you can see as the dollar value goes up--so does the effort to fake

Prices are ballpark prices but gives you a rough idea of what different variations are worth

With the one pictured at $30-$40 USD it would be too much trouble to fake---unless it was to complete a group that was missing the red banner I have seen where serial #'s were modified to match an issue book on a group

Hope this helps

Any opinions on this Red Banner? Mondvor.narod.ru states the highest known serial number as 69027 and this one has 69117.

Looks good to me, looks identical to mine only mine has a lot of replaced enamel.

I wouldnt worry about the serial number either its not a million miles from the highest known.

Mark
