Jurij Gagarin's Identification.
Here is a picture of Yuri Gagarin's certificate. (I'm sorry' I dont have it...it belongs to the National Air & Space Museum, Washington, DC).
Thhe document is number 1 and identifies him as a training cosmonaut. One trivia fact about it: Gagarin took it with him on the man's first spaceflight on April 12, 1961. |

and here's his Communist Party membership booklet
Interestingly enough, the Air & Space museum had Gagarin's cosmonaut certificate #1 on display under a Life magazine cover, but the pages were mounted on a foamboard, not in the leatherette booklet -- I'm guessing it was a photoreproduction, but a very convincing one! I also think the signs stated that the materials were on load from the Russian Space Agency ... |
