Badge Commemorating 50th Anniversary of Soviet Union.
Issued to the participants of the Congress of the Communist Party in Kremlin on Dec. 1972.
Solid gold-plated SILVER, multi-piece construction with hot-baked red enamel.

It is the first time I see this badge.

Do you have such a badge? I would like to see the document for it...

This variant came out of the estate of a Soviet Deputy. The main difference seems to be the blue highlights over the metal parts. It makes for a striking medal/badge. The reverse has similar toning. Could there have been a limited issue of this variant for high-level attendees?

don't be so affirmative...oxydation of gold-plating can change very much the colour...and almost make it disapear in certain cases. And there're no proofs of any variations of colour or plating...

This badge can also be found even for US$10. As I knew from my dealer, it was also awarded to some foreign politicians, chiefs of state and/or diplomatics of friend countries of the USSR, like Máximo Pacheco, the chilean ambassador at the Soviet Union(1967-1973), who had lots of friends at the Kremlin and received this badge.

50th Anniversary of the USSR, Commemorative Medal, 1972, whit box.

Silver gilt, enamels. Medallion is 27.2 mm wide. Reverse of the suspension device shows "MMD" mark of the Moscow Mint. The medallion is two-piece construction, with superimposed Lenin's bust in silver. The reverse is inscribed "60th Anniversary of the Creation of the Union of SSR. Moscow, Kremlin. December 1972".
