Re: looking for a soviet/cossack sabre
I'll try to get some photos sorted out this weekend otherwise it will be in 2 weeks when I get back from holiday.Sabre came from a reputable auction house but there is so little wear on the grip I am having doubts about its authenticity.

Using up old stock seems logical, the Germans restamped loads of different captured weapons with German markings and birdpictures. So can anyone date this sabre and explain the Imperial double headed eagle markings under the CCCP stamp? |

Re: looking for a soviet/cossack sabre
This is a sword, scabbard and defensive shield I purchased over in Tbilisi, Georgia. The blade is Soligen and has the cypher of Nicholas II engraved on one side and the Imperial Russian eagle on the other. The handle is very ornate and made in silver.
It's my understanding that when the revolution started, the "Khevsoors" sided with Nicholas II. This is an ethnic group that lived in the Caucasus mountains. I was told this sword belonged to one of their "officers". |
