M1945 Victory Parade Major General

I just bought a new camera and was playing with it (great new Sony); took this nice pick of the only uniform i still own ( i have a huge closet full of nice uniforms, but they are in transition to new owners : )

This was my first M1945 general I bought about 11 years ago (had to borrow $ from my mother for it!). I eventually had about 20 M1945 generals / marshals / admirals in my collection, but this one always remained my favorite. When i sold off my collection i kept this one. Still love it : )

Anyway, just thought I'd post it.

I especially like the early model belt and clean medal parade mount. My VP uniform may be the last one out of my closet someday. Or maybe this one, here...or this one...or perhaps that one...

Great tunic Doug. The Soviet VP tunics from WWII were the best in WWII. Nice hat too!

Awesome indeed. Amazing how the USSR uniforms progressed "from drab to fab" in such a short time. :)

Not in the pic, but i have the breeches as well. The entire uniform was tailored in Odessa in 1945.

Glad you guys liked the pic, i am enjoying the new camera.

It is really a nice uniform, and you are quite lucky by being able to borrow money from your mother! I hope I could do the same with mine :D

To all:

Every serious cloth collector should have at least one. Nothing comes close to matching its beautiful design; exquisite, tightly woven smooth wool and absolutely superb embroidery.

If you have the option, and you're going for a set, always select breeches over trousers. That's what the boys were wearing on 24 June 1945 when they marched through Red Square.

Slava you are so right. There is nothing like having one of these uniforms. They are just stunning.
