A general question to all. To your experience and observation, which awards are researchable?
Military awards a) military awards during and after WWII awarded are researchable if the papers/documents are available and still not classified as secret - land and air forces , navy and sometimes NKWD/MGB/KGB b) Are awards from the Spanish civil war researchable? I know a person who got research by serial number for an Order of Lenin screwback from Spanish civil war for an NKVD person. c) Are there any selfmade lists from researcher/collectors available with serial number of military awards before WWII (Red Star, Lenin …) and the name of the recipient ? Made out of observation from documents split from the award and so on. Civil Awards Which civil awards are researchable? d) Hero Star (there is a little book printed with most of the names and serial numbers) e) Hero Labour Stars if you have the name of the recipant from the awards documents ? Maybe there are newspaper articles or old UKAZ lists with name and profession of the recipient? I saw a group with Red Star and bravery medal with a lot of civil awards, a few Red Banner of Labour and a Order of Friendship award, Badge of Honour for sale on a Russian forum with award card. On this award card the civil awards were entered next to the military awards. f) Are there any selfmade lists from researcher/collectors available with serial number of the old Labour awards before WWII (Red Banner of Labour, Badge of Honour…) and the name of the recipient? That these awards may can researched by newspaper articles or old UKAZ. (see picture) g) Are there any other civil awards researchable if you have the name? Prawda Archive online The Prawda is on online available, what means that for research potential of soviet awards (military awards, labour awards)? 97 Years of History Now Online Pravda Digital Microfilm Exclusively from East View The most widely read and referenced news source from the Soviet era is now available online in full-text and full-image back to its inception in 1912 up to the end of 2009. East View has converted Pravda microfilm to an online digital resource. Researchers will be able to search through the chief chronicle of Russian and Soviet history, from the beginnings of the Russian Revolution through World War II, the Cold War, the fall of the Soviet Union, and everything in between best regards and thanks Andreas Last edited by CtahhR; 12-31-2012 at 05:13 PM. |
