Take a look on this. This is a medic badge, but I don´t know if it´s for civilian or military. The man who sold it to me says it´s military but I´m not so sure about that.
Note that the first and last letters of the CoA are completely gone:( Closer look of 3-piece construction. BTW, don´t know if the last character before the "b" is L or P.

This badge is former Medic University's graduation badge. Not related any military stuff. АУДС is acronym of Анагаах Ухааны Дээд Сургууль

Interesting Mongolian rhombus badge
This is one of my new "favorite" school badges. It's the Mongolian version of the state university grad badge. Obviously, they put a little zip in their version compared to all of the other rhombus school badges I have.:)
Does anyone know what the "УИС" stands for exactly? I get "universitet" but that's about it. Also, since Mongolian awards are relatively new to me and I'm attracted to them for their beauty and craftsmanship rather than my usual law enforcement or political reasons, I have to admit that I also do not know what the letters "БНМА(or Д)У" stand for at the base of the state seal. If I had to guess, because of the brass, I would put this around 1950-1960s production? But like I said, I have done very little research on Mongolian awards so I have no idea if they ever used cheaper materials like aluminum or tombac. Thanks, Phillip

Nice badge. БНМАУ (BNMAU) stands for Бүгд Найрамдах Монгол Ард Улс (Bügd Nairamdah Mongol Ard Uls, People's Republic of Mongolia).

Re: Interesting Mongolian rhombus badge
I wonder what the markings are on the screw plate? And is it cracked??

Re: Interesting Mongolian rhombus badge
Phil,
there´s one subtle difference between your badge and mine besides the acronym and color. Mine has red paint, and yours has light blue hot enamel. Yours must be earlier than mine, but when I acquired it the seller assured it was from the 1960´s. I´m clueless on that.

Re: Interesting Mongolian rhombus badge
Almost missed this as it wasn't in the Mongolia sub-forum . . . since it isn't Soviet . . . .
This is the graduation badge of what was founded in 1942 as the Choibalsan State University, became the Mongolian State University, and is today the National University of Mongolia. But, more properly, the Монгол Улсын Их Сургууль. (Hence УИС.) Battushig shows this badge as his R47. Due to the coat of arms used, this is the 1960-92 variety (though I think it is still being used today). Shown below the first (R46) and second (R47) badge for graduates. If anyone is interested, I also have a badge with document. I also show Choibalsan in front of his university (hard to get good pictures, since you have to stand in the middle of a busy street). Re: Interesting Mongolian rhombus badge
Apparently not a lot of interest here, but I'll add the documented specimen I have anyway. With the document.
Attached, as it was given out on the day of graduation (30 June 1976) onto the diploma. There is, by the way, also a variety with the post-1992 coat of arms. It is still awarded. As well as many, many, many, many more othe school badges (especially after 1992). Last edited by medals73; 12-03-2009 at 03:08 PM. |

Re: Interesting Mongolian rhombus badge
Not that there was no interest in seeing it (I am), but when I read the post, for some reason I thought you meant interest in buying it.
No, I think it is extremely cool and I even like the way somebody just stuck the badge through the diploma - not that I would do that, but since someone else already has, then it's okay.:D If you have anymore or a source for diplomas like this, let me know. Phillip

Re: Interesting Mongolian rhombus badge
I have talked to a fair number of graduates, and this was EXACTLY the way the diplomas and badges were given out when you walked across the stage to shake hands and get your diploma.
No interest in selling (I am not dead yet), but always interest in sharing. :p Mongolian school diamonds, you want Mongolian school diamonds, a nasty picture, but a start: |
