Hero of Russia - 4.

Tal,
May be the author means that there were 6 Jewish Generals AND HSU at the same time?

Eric
Volinov and Malinovskiy never were jews

I believe the data was correct. Only six jews being generals became HSU during GPW:
Izrail Solomonevich Beskin
Lavrenty Zacharovich Kotliar
Semyon Moyseyevich Krivoshein
Yakov Gregorovich Kraizer
Semyon Davidovich Kremer
Matvei Grigoryevich Vaintrub

Volinov is a Colonel, not general. And he is a Jew. I know him personaly, and his mother is Jewis, as stated above. I never stated that the 16 HSU in the list got HSU during GPW, but the statement by the seller is not clear.

I thought Dragunsky was a Colonel at the end of the War. He did retire as a Colonel General though. I could be wrong, however... If you ever get a chance to read his book, it's a good one (and in English!)

I agree, you never did.
You just said that all of them were generals during GPW. Smushkevich and Shtern were arrested before GPW. Looks like seller's info is correct. Only six jews being generals during GPW became HSU. Wouldn't you agree?

I agree, Eugene. The title of Sverdlov is misleading.

But, 10 Jews were Generals during the GPW and they have HSU. I can't say if the got the HSU during the war.

Anyway, I wonder what is the price of the group, and HOW NJ became the home for high end awards...

NY and NJ always were, now, at the times of great mergers, they merged
