Re: Badge "For Long Work At Metal Works Kremikovtsi".
After doing minimal research on aforementioned Professor/Major-General Manol Tsenev Vanev I have found out that he was the director of Pirogov Hospital in Sofia from 1978-1989 (Pirogov Hospital > Home) and his April 2003 dated obituary dying at the age of 76 making him old enough to be a veteran of the Patriotic War. Also a photograph of him in uniform showing how split his group must now be.
A rather unusual award for a Medical man.

Not that unusual. Maybe they needed a neurosurgeon there? Or maybe he was doing some research for them?
My grandmother for example got "Meritous worker of the energy industry" badge, even tough she never worked in that trade, but as a doctor-scientist she did some research of the effects that living close to the energy lines (or powerplants) had on people. There's a room for a medical specialist everywhere. |
