Is this it?
"Canadian Society of Military Medals and Insignia (CSMMI) annual three-day convention and show, Friday to Sunday 8-10 July 2005 at the Quality Hotel Parkway Convention Centre, 327 Ontario St, St. Catharines, ON. Bourse and exhibit hall open to registered delegates only Friday afternoon and to the public 0900-1700 hrs Saturday and 0900-1300 hrs Sunday. Enquiries to Diane Migory at 1-416-653-6648." I'd be interested to hear what was there last year too, as I'm not too far from it. Last edited by steve v.; 07-06-2005 at 10:59 AM. |

That's the one. Sounds interesting enough.

I went this afternoon and I didn't see much, it was mostly British, Canadian and American.
Most Soviet items were overpriced 1970s stuff, most of the dealers didn't seem to know a lot about it. |

The show was a lot more fruitful for other things though. I bought some Hungarian orders (all three classes of the police merit medal and the national service order) plus some Yugoslavian stuff all for about US$110...decent deal I think. Also saw a cool East German "Honour Parade" flag...see pics. My German's a bit rusty, but I believe the inscription around the emblem in the centre reads: "For the Defence, Labour and Builders forces" but I could be wrong.

I did get a Virgin Lands medal and document for $40 CAD, and a "Laureate of the Ukrainian SSR Komsomol" medal for $5 CAD.
Not too bad for driving 5 minutes down the street. |
