More treasures from Lithuania (balticcollections)
Hi,
From the worlds' biggest auction site ... In addition to the previous post ... Fresh from Panevezys, Lithuania  Rare documented group of duplicates with hand-engraved serial numbers and cyrillic "D" on all items. Of course, nevsky is a fake, the rest is just authentic, but mutilated pieces. Somebody shelled out over $1600 for this pile of silver, well, if these were all kosher, it would've been a deal of a year, but ... Hope the buyer is not a forum member, getting refund from Lithuania is troublesome. Enjoy the scans... :laff |

All the patina looks like it was slapped on with a pastry brush..... I also wouldn't be surprised if it were made of egg!

The patina.... although I have seen some items that could well have been made of egg.... Fake patina is a great way to cover sins....

Re: More treasures from Lithuania (balticcollections)
It aggravates me that someone used the "Dynamo" Latin script D to indicate what I suppose stands for "Dublikat" which then in some parallel world justifies the re-writing of serial numbers.

Actually, all the "biggies" are bad. The ORB base is a Baltic Mint product, and the OPW1 has a cast star (hence fake...). Marc |

And I see no signs of OPW1 star’s casting. The pictures are too small, but IMHO at ORB and OPW1, numbers have been replaced only. Isn't that right? |

Re: More treasures from Lithuania (balticcollections)
Drill,
I believe that this mintmark on the ORB resembles the Krasnokamsk one, but is of modern manufacture. As to the OPW1, the golden back plate shows defects that, to me, look like casting problems. Marc |
