Re: Deputy Badges

In 1970, a new Type 3.2 (Battushig #B03) badge was introduced, of significantly lower quality that the previous variety.

As with its predecessor, these came in both screwback (Type 3.2.1 Low = 0008/High = 241) and pinback (Type 3.2.2 Low = 855/High = 1062) manufacture. The observed lack of overlap in these serial number ranges suggests that you'd be issued with just a single badge, and not one of each attachment.

Re: Deputy Badges

In 1990, the typography on the badge was significantly redesigned (Type 3.3 -- Battushig #B04). So far as I know at present, this badge was issued only in screwback form (and, so, was immensely unpopular with those who had to wear it and, thereby, spoil good clothing). The observed serial number range is Low = 0003/High = 0995.

This badge was only worn for two years and became obsolete in 1992 with the change in Mongolian governmental structure.

Re: Deputy Badges

After the transition from socialism, new badges were introduced.

Type 3.4 -- 1992-94 -- circular blue with gold legend -- serial numbered, but I have no data -- Battushig B05

Type 3.5 -- 1994-99 -- flag with new national arms -- this is seen in both numbered (Type 3.5.1) and unnumberd (Type 3.5.2) specimens, but I have no data -- Battushig B06

Type 3.6 -- 1999-present -- two silver vajras with the national arms in the center -- serial numbered, but I have no data -- Battushig B07

Regrettably, I have no specimens to show of any of these varieties :(, so you'll need to look at Battushig to see them. (Maybe someone can add them?)

Type 1.1 – Deputy of the State Higher Assembly -- not much is known on the serial number range as my records show only #63 -- not in Battushig.

Type 1.2 – Deputy of the State Lower Assembly -- reported serial number range Low = 1/High = 236 -- I have never seen one without a mint mark, but if NB says they exist, I trust his statement -- Battushig B01.

Both of these badges are now faked and there is much controversy surrounding them (especially the 1.1 variety).

It is not presently known what badges (if any) were used in the 1944-60 period. Personally, I'd guess that these badges continued in use, but I have only the vague recollection of one aging senior Mongolian official to support this supposition. But, in my notes, I refer to these as a possible unknown Type 2, just in case something surfaces.
Type 1.1, in my opinion, is a fake. I have never seen the photo documents of this badge worn by the deputies and the quality of the badge looks inferior.

This deputy Badge (battushig #B04) has been introduced in 1951 (I need to look my records for exact date) when the State Small Khural (or as you name it Lesser Khural) was renamed into the State Great Khural. Therefore the Presidium of the State Great Khural had to change the badge design. To this end, the Presidium used new Mongolian State Flag (adopted in 1945: red-blue-red color composition) as a background and change the old Mongolian script abbreviation of the "Member of the State Small Khural" into a full text: Mongolian People's Republic-deputy of the State Great Khural.

Re: Deputy Badges

Here is a Screwback 1960 Type #0053. The lowest I have seen so far - the highest was ~#1750.

Re: Deputy Badges

Here is a Sum Deputy Badge. The poor quality plastic "enamel" has started to perish.
