Orders Decorations And Medals Of The Democratic People's Republic Of Korea

This is the first detailed color study of North Korean orders, decorations, and medals. It has over 300 color pictures of North Korean orders and medals. There are also pictures illustrating variations of each award, the award certificates and cases.
There are four appendices in this book. The first provides the number of awards presented to both North Koreans and the Chinese People's Army Volunteers during the Korean War. The second lists the order of precedence for the awards. The third shows the ribbons for each award in the order of precedence. The final appendix provides a reference of the estimated value for each award.

I just received this book.

I am a bit disappointed. It's not a bad book as general overview of Korean awards, but it lacks depth when it comes to describing variations.

For example, National Flag order - Chech made awards 2nd and 3rd class are not mentioned, but author lists Chech 1st class as separate variant.

Thanks for the info, I was hoping someone would give a comment on how the book is.
I would think there will most probably be a more detailed second edition printed in the future.

I also received my copy of the book, and I beleive it to be a good starting point. Several variants is not described (as mentioned above), not only the National Banner made in Czechoslovakia. I have a variant of the 3 Revolutions Order which is not pictured or described, and that is not a rare order.

But the main problem with the book is the quality of the pictures. They are not good enough.

I too was interested in the book. I paged through the book and agree it is a good starting point, but the photographic quality leaves much to be desired.

Hi Tang,

A friend collector of mine purchased this book and I read it. Photos are bad, information about types and variations too. According to him the price of the book was not worth it at all. If I were you I would not try to get it.
