Why not? Kulikov does as well. The rank exists, altough it's no longer being given. They couldn't translate this to MotRF, as he didn't earn this rank in the RF and RF is officially NOT the continuation of the USSR.

Re: New Russian Uniforms!

Shoulder patch just seems odd on that uniform but that seems to be the trend. Not sure why they felt they needed to economize on buttons. Certainly don't need as many as an m45 but seems like it would look better with an extra pair in there.

I fully agree, too much empty space in front now.

Re: New Russian Uniforms!

Hey guys!
Wow, I haven't been on here in a while.

I really love those Kremlin Guard uniforms, so beautiful, so much detail, even in the shoulder boards, really great stuff, and the Shakos look so awesome! Looks like the Tsar is back haha.

And as for the MotSU I like the jacket's 4 button change, it seems a bit more modern, but I can go either way, with or without the extra two buttons it looks really good.

Lonny.

Not possible, since the CIS is not a sovereign entity that possesses its own armed forces. It would be similar to talking about a NATO Marshal :thumbsdown

Re: New Russian Uniforms!

For me, the most annoying things about the marshal's uniform are the intrusion of the sleeve patch as a reminder that "he's in the Russian Federation now" and that RF medal/order (for Merits to the Motherland?) as almost making a point of being more obvious than all his Soviet awards.

I cannot tell from the photos, but I wonder what the shoulder boards look like now. Has the Soviet seal been replaced with the two-headed eagle?

Re: New Russian Uniforms!

Would a MOSU that was say in Moldova or Azerbaijan wear the local insignia? It seems to me that Russian has monopolised the Marshals. Mind you I read that Latvian armed forces is 952 people so how many Marshals do they need?

Re: New Russian Uniforms!

I imagine that it is a regional thing. As with any former republic, the local badges, orders and medals take precedence over the SU awards.

Nope. The shoulder boards are USSR type, as correct for a Marshal of the Soviet Union.
