Re: Banzragch Es

I wonder if they can offer some other shots of the group too.... Different angles, close ups etc.

Re: Banzragch Es

From a very reliable source: the hero nr 1 and 3 red banners he is selling are stolen goods... From the national history museum.

They are probably not even in the sellers possession (just like the SB/Soyombo group).

If you bid, win and pay... I will bet you'll see the person disappear never to be found.

Re: Banzragch Es

I have seen this exact same photograph of the Hero #1. It is nice to see the price tag isn't 6 figures this time but then again you are just bidding for the honour of looking at that picture.

If it's too good to be true.....

Re: Banzragch Es

I think I know pretty sure who's behind these eBay listings... somebody who also displayed some bad eBay behaviour in the past as well.

I have records of messages back and forth with that person via eBay from an earlier (cheaper) transaction and it looks like he's slipped up and by accident left some personal details there.

Some people never learn...

"If at first you don't succeed....."

These sorts certainly need to be purged before they cause damage and malaise with the collecting arena.

It certainly emphasises how good we have it when we find a true and fair source.

His modus operandi:
* you get a standard email from ebay to pay with paypal
* after you make payment he asks you to cancel it and pay via skrill
* the result is that he gets his money but your item is not marked as "paid" at ebay (this will come back to bite you when you file an undelivered item claim)
* he never provides shipping data (because he didn't ship it...) despite repeated requests and promises to do so
* at the end, he's in a position to claim to ebay that he is not shipping because he did not receive payment (in fact, he didn't even respond to the case opened at ebay)
* he's got the $, the buyer has nothing... and ebay doesn't care

I am astounded - twice eBay has rejected my escalation to customer support. I paid for the item, it's not delivered and eBay just says "tough luck".

*disillusioned*

The person who I've suspected is behind this is indicating that he's not been on ebay for years and is being set up by somebody else (in principle possible) and is going to the police (with the address/bank details I provided of the $ recipient).

At least I'm getting some entertainment for the money I've lost. I hope the person I suspected indeed is not behind this and that the bastard who will feel the pain.

Either way - bidding on these auctions is financial madness. Real pity that eBay is not putting an end to it...

update: hypothesis is that a disgruntled former employee is behind it...

Lots of warning signs with this seller:
1. Newly listed (few months ago).
2. Short and bad feedback history.
3. Was selling cheap items and suddenly he lists very expensive awards.
4. All photos have different backgrounds - normally when you photograph items you have a dedicated location (i.e. table, countertop, floor). Probably because pics came from different sources, were not taken by this seller, likely stolen pics.
5. He opened eBay account in Mongolia, but states that items are located in S. Korea.

Plenty of reasons to stay away.:thumbsdown

Well, three listings ended, combined sale value over $20,000.

Three different winners, I guess they will soon have a pleasure of dealing with this crook.

Re: Banzragch Es

Aside from the fraud behind it, the prices realized on the 3 listings are also a bit odd:
- the soyombo group = maybe fairly priced
- the hero star = way underpriced
- the 3 red banners = underpriced

Aside from knowledgeable people staying away from these listings I suspect in general that there's such a limited experience with the hero star that people are afraid of bidding on it. There was one up for auction in Italy a couple of years ago (I think it reached 17k Euro) and I kept away from it precisely for that reason.

Re: Banzragch Es

Prices would be in line with the market if this would be reputable seller.

I guess most potential buyers didn't want to risk large sums with unproven seller with ad feedback.

Also - Hero award reverse looks odd - the serial number is way different from traditional style of engraving on Mongolian awards. Perhaps that got people to question its authenticity.
