I declined the offer as too expensive.

This medal was produced in 1988 by the Soviet Peace Committee, a group backed by the Soviet government to oppose the arms race .

In 1987, Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev signed the INF Treaty, which eliminated U.S. and Soviet ground-launched ballistic missiles and ground-launched cruise missiles having a range capability between 500 and 5500 kilometers. To mark the occasion, the Soviet Peace Committee used metal from R-12 Soviet medium range missiles scrapped under the treaty to strike these medals. The card that was distributed with the medal cites its origin and says “The metal poses no harm for your health.” It appears to be aluminum, which came from the outer casing of the missile and is not radioactive. The denomination of the coin is “1 disarmament dollar” (or ruble, in Russian).

Now, the above text is of the seller. Note the change in the design of the Soviet Peace Committee logo - not just the globe, but also a bell. (peace bell?).

In Finland asking price is 2-2,50 euros.

Hello All,

Just got this. I was told it's a peace organization award? It is very high quality. Not sure if chrome/nickel plated brass or solid chrome/nickel. Background shiny while graphics are a matte finish. Back has space for serial number and this medal has 4 digit number. Hanger also has the same finish.

I had a peace fund medal in the mail :)
It has serial number 4.290. Unfortunately there is no date in the document. So, to this thread it seems to be the highest observed number.
